TIGNE JUDO CLUB

For INSTRUCTORS/COACHES

 

  • Instructors/Coaches should always lead by example. Any negative aspect will reflect badly on the image and the reputation of both the sport and the Club.

 

  • Instructors/Coaches should always exemplify the highest moral character, behaviour, and leadership.

 

  • Instructors/Coaches should always display modesty in victory and graciousness in defeat.

 

  • Instructors/Coaches should always show respect to each and every Club Member.

 

  • Instructors/Coaches should always treat each Club Member impartially and responsibly.

 

  • Instructors/Coaches should never discriminate against any member due to political, religious, colour or sexual orientation.

 

  • Instructors/Coaches should always encourage the highest standards of conduct and achievement amongst Club Members.

 

  • Instructors/Coaches should always wear appropriate attire (clean judogi, trimmed nails, clean feet, etc).

 

  • Instructors/Coaches should always be punctual for all sessions.

 

  • Instructors/Coaches should always ensure that all safety measures have been taken prior to their commencing a training session.

 

  • Instructors/Coaches should always promote both the sport of Judo and Club.

 

  • Instructors/Coaches should always discipline members fairly when Club regulations are not adhered to.

 

  • Instructors/Coaches should refrain from answering telephone calls (unless being on call), engage in idle chatter and/or continuously interrupt the ongoing sessions.

 

  • Instructors/Coaches should always refrain from talking to visitors (e.g. other instructors, parents etc) during a session.

 

  • Instructors/Coaches should never interrupt, take over or contradict any other instructor/coach or higher Dan grade during any session.

 

  • Instructors/Coaches should never invite members from other Clubs to train at the Club without the prior approval of the Club Manager or the Club’s Management Committee itself.

 

  • Instructors/Coaches should never deal directly with the Malta Judo Federation, other Club managers or individual judokas on matters which are related to the Club, without the prior consent of the Club Manager or the Management Committee itself.

 

  • Instructors/Coaches should always abide by the regulations listed in the Club’s Statute.

For Members

 

  • It is expected of Members to show courtesy and respect at all times to all fellow Club Members.

 

  • Members are expected to show respect at all times to Club Instructors. Instructors are to be addressed accordingly preferably using the term ‘sensei’, as and when required.

 

  • The Dojo is a place of respect.  It is not a place for idle talk and/or frivolous behaviour.

 

  • Members are to bow on entering and on leaving the tatami.

 

  • Members are to bow to each other after each and every randori or other exercise.

 

  • Members are not to leave the tatami without the prior permission of the Instructor in charge of the session.

 

  • Members are to refrain from drinking without the prior permission of the Instructor in charge of the session.

 

  • Always be punctual for training sessions.  Members arriving late for sessions will not be allowed to train unless prior notice has been given.

 

  • Members who arrive late for a session are not to step onto the tatami without first being given permission to do so by the Instructor in charge of the session.

 

  • It is everyone’s responsibility to keep the Dojo clean at all times.  Members are to take out of the Club all items which they themselves bring with them to the session.

 

  • Members are to maintain a high standard of personal hygiene at all times.

 

  • Fingernails and toenails are to be kept short and clean at all times.

 

  • No jewellery and/or other hard objects are to be worn whilst on the tatami.

 

  • Smoking, eating and/or drinking alcohol in the dojo is prohibited.

 

  • Members are to refrain from practicing Judo whilst under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

 

  • Members are to train in a clean judogi and which is in a good state of repair.

 

  • Members are to wear the belt of their earned rank.

 

  • Belts are to be tied in such a way to ensure that they do not come undone every few seconds.

 

  • Female judokas are to wear a white T-shirt underneath their judogi.

 

  • The Instructor on the day of the session is totally in charge.  Therefore members are to ensure that they follow his/her instructions.  Any member disobeying or ignoring such instructions will be requested to leave.

 

  • Members are to refrain from engaging in idle talk whilst on the tatami, or disturb the session in any way.

 

  • It is not acceptable to contradict or to interrupt the Instructor whilst on the tatami.

 

  • When seated on the tatami, members are to keep their legs folded at all times.

 

  • Club premises, including furniture, fittings and mats are to be used properly.  Any damage made is to be paid for the by member/s concerned.

 

  • Members are to inform the Club Manager/Committee members when they:

 

(a)   wish to train with other Clubs;

(b)   are approached by judokas/club managers of other clubs for any reason;

(c)   inform the Club Manager when they are unable to attend a training session stating the reason/s;

 

  • Members are only to engage in gradings and competitions when authorized to do so by the Club’s Committee.

 

  • Members wishing to participate in any judo related activity, not organised by the Club itself, should at all times do so after first obtaining the authorisation of the Club’s Committee, which is the sole legal and judicial representative of the Club.
